... at the world school international form
Ankara Anatolian High School - TURKEY
This year we have had the most precious experinces in our life in The World School International Form 2009 in Japan and we wanted to share this with you. First of all we want to give some information about this form: The World School was initiated in 1997 by Masaki Matsudaira, the former Chairman and present advisor to the board of trustees of Kanto International School located in Tokyo, Japan. Its aim is to "Build an Educational Institution without Borders". The biggest event of the World School is an annual forum. Once a year, young people from more than 20 countries gather and discuss social and global issues. World School activities include, communicating online about
global issues, visiting associated schools, and home stay exchanges. World School reunites enhances a global perspective creates international friendships fosters tolerance and understanding.
Our participation to World School International Forum was adventurous. Since Japan was supposed to host all of us, we felt so nervous. Because we didn’t know what we were going to come across. But when we saw those nice and great people, we felt happy and realized that we would get here unforgettable experiences. Indeed we had very particular prejudices. We came to Katsuura Campus at night and we couldn’t see the environment.
We have met our room-mates and we went to bed immediately because we had so long journey. In the morning we were shocked, the campus was gorgeous and huge. Then at breakfast time we started knowing other students and we loved them. Everyone was really nice and sympathetic. We had country introductions and seminars about. The environment: Food and Value. We worked hard and were tired but also, you were enjoying Japanese culture & custom through many activities, like chopsticks, homestay, Zazen experience ect. While
we were learning lots of new things and changing our point of views, we also had fun and made good friendships. We had chance to know other cultures, especially Japanese while we were staying with Japanese students’ families at their home in Tokyo.
Eventually we finished our works successfully. Our mental, spiritual and social aspects have changed after it. I think we became better people and as Mr. Matsudaira said started "being International". We all think it
was one of the best experience in our lives. When we came back to our countries we felt a hole in our hearts and didn't know how to fill it up. We think It will take some time to get back to our ordinal days, But We should all follow the message that Mr. Daryoosh Matsudaira gave to us. We don't think that we should all just fall back into out previous lives and let others dictate what we can and can not do in our day to day lives. We say that we take a stand for what we truly in our hearts believe is right. ..... because you what? He was right.... it starts with us, not tomorrow..... but today....
WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE DAYS AND MEMORIES DURING THE WORLD SCHOOL 2009
